GOLF GREEN INSTALLATION

Installing golf greens is something we definitely advise you leave to the professionals. Some DIY projects end up being more difficult than their worth, additionally you can face issues early on, like edges peeling up, lumps appearing in the grass - the list goes on. Here’s a quick glimpse of what installing synthetic grass looks like.

INITIAL CONSULTATION

A turf professional should come out to inspect the site where you’d like to put your artificial golf greens. They can guide you on what kind of digging will need to be done, which turf is a fine selection, and what your budget estimate will be.

AGGREGATE LAYER

First, any regular grass is eliminated, and the soil is leveled. Then a base of crushed aggregate will be moistened and molded to form specific characteristics like breaks and sand traps. This aggregate is commonly composed of crushed stone.

CUSHION PADDING (select projects)

After the aggregate layer is installed and leveled, a cushion padding is added. Cushion is added to improve playability and give added shock absorption or deflection. Pad is added based on the application and expected outcomes.

TURF SURFACE

Once your aggregate and cushion are done, the turf surface is added. The grass is made from high-tech polypropylene and styled to look like organice grass.

INFILL

After turf surface installation comes the grass infill. The perfect infill will be a combination of fine-coated silica sand to give the synthetic turf weight and that real feel. If you’re interested in a cooling technology like HydroChill®, it's added to the infill before the it's is applied to the grass.

STYLING

The last step of the installation process is brushing or rolling. This is what creates the best grass effect on a putting green or the lush lookaesthetic of landscape, adding to the realism. Depending on fringe cuts, sand traps, bunkers, etc., this phase of the installation process will vary.
